2013 Masters Sleepers and Longshots

2013 MastersIt is easy to just look for the favorites to win The 2013 Masters. The names Tiger, Phil and Rory will be top of mind for most fans following The Masters. In reality, the favorite doesn’t usually win and once in a while a Masters sleeper pick comes out of nowhere and makes a run.

These Masters sleeper picks can pay off if they win and you wager on them at Bovada.com, or they can be great choices when filling out a Masters fantasy golf pool. Whether it is for a Masters office pool, or you are making picks for your daily fantasy golf team at DraftStreet or Fantazzle, having an idea of which Masters sleeper picks will do well is a list worth having.

Our 2012 Masters longshot picks resulted in 3 players finishing in the top 25 and two of them tied for 12th. These underdogs helped us cash in with our DraftStreet fantasy golf team last year, as we were able to spend more of our salary cap on some of the favorites.

Below is our list of 2013 Masters Tournament Sleeper Picks, but they can also be classified as Masters longshots or underdogs as we have only focused on players at long odds to win the 2013 Masters.

Sleepers At 150-1 Odds

Fredrik Jacobson Masters UnderdogFredrik Jacobson – Jacobson is playing well in 2013 and finished tied last year in 19th place at The Masters. Jacobson is a true sleeper pick that never seems to be mentioned when people are picking winners for tournaments, but he always seems to play well in every tournament he enters.

Robert Garrigus Masters UnderdogRobert Garrigus - Missed the cut at his only Masters appearance, but has played well in 2013. At 150-1 odds, he is a Masters underdog that could cash in a huge ticket.

Sleepers At 50-1 Odds

Steve Stricker Masters LongshotSteve Stricker – In the last couple of years on the PGA Tour, Stricker has had a career rejuvenation and has been a favorite to win many of the big tournaments. Stricker has scaled back his tournaments this year, so that may be an advantage for him playing at this year’s Masters tourney.

Jason Day Masters LongshotJason Day - Day had a poor year last year, but has turned it around in 2013. Not many remember that Day was McIlroy’s playing partner the Sunday that Rory imploded at the Masters and Day finished in 2nd. Day should be considered one of the favorites to win the Masters which is why it is surprising to see odds makers giving such high value to him. Take advantage and make him your top sleeper pick.

Graeme McDowell Masters LongshotGraeme McDowell – McDowell was on our 2012 longshots list and finished tied for 12th. That’s pretty good value in my books. In 2013, he sits at 50-1 odds and as a Masters sleeper, he is a good pick, given he has already won a major in his career.

Sleepers At 40-1 Odds

Keegan Bradley Masters UpsetKeegan Bradley – Bradley never seems to be unfazed at how big the moment or tournament may be. He has the game to play well at Augusta and should be a great 2013 Master sleeper pick to ride for your fantasy golf team.

Jason Dufner Masters UpsetJason Dufner - Dufner was also on our list of Masters Longshots last year, and he finished in 24th place. Good, but not great. At least he made the cut and scored us valuable fantasy points throughout the weekend tournament which is what we honestly want in a sleeper pick.

Hunter Mahan Masters UpsetHunter Mahan – So far in 2013, Mahan has been fantasy golf gold for us at DraftStreet. He has to be included as a Masters sleeper pick given how well he is playing and the fact the odds makers have him at 40-1. Too good a deal to pass up in my book whether you bet on the Masters or play daily fantasy golf.
