2013 Farmers Insurance Open Picks

The PGA Tour returns with a field full of top golfers at the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open. Some of the starters at the Farmers Insurance Open played who have played at the Torrey Pines Golf Club include: Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and defending Farmers Insurance Open Champion Brandt Snedeker. With a field like this, picking a fantasy team to play at DraftStreet.com becomes more interesting but also more difficult. Again, as much as it is nice to focus on a guy like Tiger Woods who has dominated this tournament in the past, our Daily Fantasy Golf Strategies suggest that you may want to spread those salary cap dollars around a bit, as taking Tiger at DraftStreet this week will take up almost 40% of your salary cap - not a smart move for 1 golfer past his prime.

The course at Torrey Pines actually has two courses, a North and South Course. The final two rounds are played on the south course which is over 7500 yards in length (the north has around 7000 yards). Torrey Pines favors long hitters that can reach a par 5 in 2 shots and have a chance at eagles or at least come away with a birdie.

Here are our suggested 2013 Farmers Insurance Open Picks For your fantasy golf team at DraftStreet:

Hunter MahanHunter Mahan - $18,581 – Mahan is great at getting to the greens, and on the South course at Torrey Pines it is an asset to be able to play a good short game to score. Mahan has tied for 6th place the last two tournaments and should step up his game with the tougher field around him.

Brian StuardBrian Stuard - $11,116 – Stuard has had an impressive beginning to his PGA Tour career with two top 10 finishes already in 2013. He is playing well and as we mentioned in our Daily Fantasy Golf Strategies, sometimes you have to continue to play the hot hand. At a low price at DraftStreet, he’s a good sleeper pick for a low price.

Aaron BaddeleyAaron Baddeley - $13,942 – Baddeley is more of a sleeper pick as well. He finished in 27th last week at the Humana and 27th last year at the Farmers Insurance Open. He is a good golfer and hopefully he can make the cut and continue through the weekend.

Keegan BradleyKeegan Bradley - $19,000 – Bradley hasn’t started 2013 exceptionally well but has shown in the past that he can play with the big boys on the PGA Tour and is great in the clutch. I like Bradley to go all 4 rounds and rack up some birdie points along the way. He is an excellent fantasy golf pick this week at DraftStreet.

Charles Howell IIICharles Howell III - $21,765 – Howell has never won at Torrey Pines, but has made the cut all 10 times, with six top 15 finishes which include two runner-up finishes. He ranks 5th in all time earnings at Torrey Pines, even though he’s never won. In other words, Howell is a guy that will play well and last all 4 rounds and get your fantasy team a lot of points. Heck, given how he has played so far this year, he could even win the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open.

D.A. PointsD.A. Points - $14,151 – Points has finished in 8th, 5th and 9th in the last three years playing the Farmers Insurance Open. Points may not be a big name in the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open, but he knows how to play Torrey Pines and should be a good bet to play all four rounds for your fantasy team.

Total DraftStreet Salary – $98,555
