2013 Tampa Bay Championship Picks

2013 Tampa Bay Championship LogoThe PGA Tour has had a fantastic run of great golf tournaments recently, so this week’s 2013 Tampa Bay Championship may be a bit of a letdown in terms of field quality. All is not lost though, there are still some top PGA Tour players such as defending champion Luke Donald, Matt Kuchar, Louis Oosthuizen and Adam Scott for you to consider when filling out your DraftStreet Fantasy Golf lineup.

Previously known as the Transitions Championship, the Tampa Bay Championship is played on the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Florida. The course is a 7,340 yard, par 71 and there are 500 FedEx Cup Points up for grabs to the winner.

Our WGC-Cadillac Championship picks at DraftStreet were again winners for us as our hot streak continued. If you’ve been making money with our picks…you’re welcome! If you haven’t been using them and are on the negative side of the fantasy golf balance sheet, you should bookmark this site or follow us on Twitter or Facebook to know when we post our picks and predictions for golf tournaments.

Without further delay, here are our 2013 Tampa Bay Championship Picks and Predictions for DraftStreet.

Brendon de Jonge - PGA TourBrendon de Jonge - $15,924 - Brendon de Jonge has only missed one cut in 2013 and finished in 5th place here in 2011. We like the way de Jonge is making cuts and scoring points, so we will pop him into our DraftStreet lineup and hope his PGA Tour magic this season continues.

Jason Day - PGA TourJason Day - $19,881 – Jason Day is having a good 2013 and has three top 10 finishes already. At Copperhead, Day has improved each year with a 20th place finish last year. When looking for a fantasy golfer to play all four rounds, Day is a great choice for this week.

James Hahn - PGA TourJames Hahn - $11,287 – Our favorite PGA Tour rookie returns to play at the 2013 Tampa Bay Championship. This is a tough course for a player who has never played before. Only because of his low price at DraftStreet, and how well he has played in 2013, do we take him for our fantasy team. This is a speculative sleeper pick, but hopefully he makes the cut and makes us look good again.

Louis Oosthuizen - PGA TourLouis Oosthuizen - $21,138 – In his first appearance playing at Copperhead, Oosthuizen finished tied for 20th place. Oosthuizen has the talent to stay in contention at any PGA Tour tournament and should play well at the 2013 Tampa Bay Championship in our DraftStreet fantasy golf lineup.

Jimmy Walker - PGA TourJimmy Walker - $16,802 – Walker has taken the last few weeks off with the birth of his first child, but was hot to begin the 2013 season. He has made all 6 of his cuts and has two top 10 finishes (top 5 to be exact!). In 2010, Walker finished tied for 16th playing the Copperhead course, so he can do well here if he hasn’t let any rust settle in on his golf game with this time off.

Retief Goosen - PGA TourRetief Goosen - $14,382 – Second all-time in earnings at this tournament, Goosen has made all 3 cuts faced on the PGA Tour this year with one top 10 finish. Goosen won on the course in 2009, so his experience should keep him playing throughout the weekend.

Total DraftStreet Salary - $99,414
