2014 Masters Preview and Forecast

2014 Masters PreviewThe 2014 PGA Tour season began way back in October, but many believe the golf season doesn't start until The Masters tees off at Augusta in April. The premier golf tournament of the year will again be center stage as the best golfers in the world, including defending Masters Champion Adam Scott, take on Augusta National.

2014 will again see a top field of golfers, but a different look to the famous course. In February, a winter storm that rocked Georgia caused damage to a historical landmark – The Eisenhower Tree. The tree was badly damaged and in the end it was removed. The 17th hole at Augusta will have a new look, at least for 2014 while they try to figure out what to replace it with. Either way, the approach that players make on the hole will be different, and it may become a new birdie opportunity in the closing of the round.

Early Favorites to Win The 2014 Masters

Jimmy WalkerJimmy Walker – Walker has been a man possessed on the PGA Tour this year, so why not throw in a win at the 2014 Masters to go along with all his other wins? Walker has never played at Augusta, which usually means a steep learning curve…but do we really think a little thing like having no previous course history is going to stop him now? He is a Masters fantasy points machine.

Adam ScottAdam Scott - Scott needs to be on this list if only for the fact that he is the defending Masters Champion. Aside from that, Adam Scott is having a very good 2014 on the PGA Tour and although we aren't fans of him winning back-to-back green jackets, the way he is playing, anything is possible.

Best Fantasy Golf SitesDustin JohnsonDustin Johnson - Dustin Johnson has already started off strong in 2014 and the idea of Johnson wearing a green jacket on the final Sunday isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Johnson’s is at the top of his golf game right now and many think this is his year to win some majors.

Bubba WatsonBubba Watson – Since winning the 2012 Masters, Watson was in a total golf funk since. That funk ended though in February with a win at the Northern Trust open, but signs of life have been around all year. Look for Watson to use his game and experience at Augusta to make another run at a green jacket in 2014.

Jason DayJason Day – In 3 trips to the Masters, Day has had a 3rd place finish, a W/D and a second place finish…the W/D came in a year where everything didn’t work. The last 2 years, Day has been a force in all the majors and it seems like he’s ready to win one soon…why not the one where he finishes near the top all the time? Make sure Jason Day is in your fantasy golf league lineup for this one.

Brandt SnedekerBrandt Snedeker – Twice in his career, Brandt Snedeker has been in the final pairing on the Sunday at the Masters - and twice he has choked on the final Sunday…at least he’s consistent! Snedeker knows the course, and to be good enough to almost win it twice means that Snedeker has a better chance than most to win the 2014 Masters.
