2014 PGA Championship Sleepers and Longshots

2014 PGA Championship LogoFantasy golf owners that had underdogs like Edoardo Molinari, Shane Lowry, Robert Karlsson and Ryan Moore on their British Open lineups were probably the ones that cashed in for some big fantasy golf money.

There are only so many favorites to win the PGA Championship that you can fit into a lineup, so you need to find some low cost longhsot options to round everything out...

If you play in DraftKing’s $300,000 King of the Course Contest, you will need to look for golfers like the ones listed below with lower salary cap prices, so that you can stack the rest of your lineup with top end players like our PGA Championship Fantasy Golf Picks.

We are partners with DraftKings and receive compensation for new players joining through our links. This helps us to provide quality content to our followers.

All the PGA Championship sleepers below have odds from 40-1 up to 150-1 at various Las Vegas sports books to give you an idea of how much of a longshot the Vegas boys consider each of these players.

Jimmy WalkerJimmy Walker (50-1) – Still the quietest top golfer of 2014 with an 8th place finish at the Masters, a 9th place at the US Open and then a 26th at The Open Championship. He was only $8,000 at DraftKings for The Open, so considering how he has played this year, having a guy that will make the cut and possibly contend for $8K…he’ll be on our team!

Bill HaasBill Haas (80-1) – If you are looking for a cheaper fantasy player that will make a cut and score you points throughout the weekend, then Haas is your guy. He was a popular sleeper pick for The Open and did make the cut - finishing in 51st with a 1 over Par score. He won’t win - but if he is a low price, grab him and use the extra salary cap money on some top players.

Hideki MatsuyamaHideki Matsuyama (66-1) – Played well at Hoylake, but just could never get on a roll and make a good score. Matsuyama has shown why he will be a great player on the PGA Tour for years with a win at the Memorial Tournament and making the cut at both the US Open and the British Open. At longshot odds, he is a good risk-reward option.

Louis OosthuizenLouis Oosthuizen (66-1) – What to do with Oosthuizen? This guy is a good golfer (54th in the OWGR), but has battled injuries and admittedly has screwed some of our fantasy lineups this year. BUT – when healthy, the guy can contend as he did in England before shooting a 76 on Saturday. He is a risky sleeper pick, but one that can pay off if his game is on this week.

Brandt SnedekerBrandt Snedeker (40-1) – He should be around 60-1 odds, but Vegas seems to give him some respect. He has battled injuries also, but in 2014 has shown flashes of getting back to how he was playing last year when he was winning everything before injuries took over. He finished 58th at the last major, so look at how he played at the RBC and the WGC before deciding if he is worth a spot on your fantasy golf team.

Francesco MolinariFrancesco Molinari (125-1) – You wonder what THIS guy needs to do to get respect. He made all 3 cuts in majors so far in 2014, he is ranked 42nd in the OWGR and was a popular sleeper at The Open Championship. If he hadn’t thrown up a 75 on Saturday at Hoylake, he would have easily finished with a top 10. If his price is anywhere below $8000 at DK…grab him!

Marc LeishmanMarc Leishman (150-1) – Leishman is a hot and cold player, but when he’s hot he can play with the big boys. He finished tied for 5th in England a few weeks back and finished in 12th at The Players Championship last year. He is a low cost, high risk - high reward player that if he’s playing well, could help you finish in the money. Definitely a longshot worth taking a flier on.
