2016 British Open Championship Fantasy Golf Picks

British Open Championship LogoNext to the Masters no other PGA Tour golf tournament gets as much attention as the Open Championship does or as they call it in North America – The British Open.

Part of it’s the history of the tournament, part of it is the different style links courses and part of it is that you can win $1 Million playing Fantasy Golf. Regardless The 2016 Open Championship will once again have all eyes on it for 4 days.

Our list below are British Open Fantasy Golf Picks that we think you should look at for your DraftKings lineup. The list won’t have some of the obvious names like Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day or Dustin Johnson but you may find those names on our Who Will Win the 2016 British Open Championship page.

2016 Fantasy Golf Picks for The British Open

Play Fantasy Golf in the UKHenrik StensonHenrik Stenson – Many people melted down when Stenson withdrew from the US Open especially after a solid 69 in the 1st round. He had a slight neck issue but that was brushed off in the following tournaments where he’s back to being one of the best golfers in the world. I don’t expect him to win the 2016 British Open Championship but he will play all four rounds and be a solid second player in your lineup.

Matt KucharMatt Kuchar– He was a popular fantasy golf pick for the US Open because of how he was playing and it paid off with a solid showing at Oakmont. Look for Kuchar to again make the cut and even though he won’t win the 2016 Open Championship he will still be a solid pick in the BIGGEST Fantasy Golf Contest in the world!

Jason DufnerJason Dufner – Shhh…Don’t look now but Dufner may be back to being a fantasy golf pick to look at week to week. He finished 8th at the US Open but has had some solid finishes on the PGA Tour including a win and a bunch of top 10 finishes. I like Dufner at the Open Championship to at least make the cut and he won’t be super expensive for your Million Dollar Lineup.

Zach JohnsonZach Johnson – He’s the defending champion and should get more props than he does but all Zach Johnson seems to do lately is play well. Finished in 8th at the US Open and has a Top 10 finish at the Open Championship 3 out of the last 4 years. Usually priced in the mid-range so he is a great value pick.

Phil MickelsonPhil Mickelson– I don’t like Phil Mickelson and I never take him for my fantasy lineups but his game is suited really well for the British Open. He won it in 2013 but ironically it’s the one major in his career he’s performed the worst at. So why is he a good fantasy pick? He has missed the cut in the first two majors of 2016 but has otherwise played really well so far this PGA Tour season. I think Phil has too much pride to miss another cut in a major so he should be OK at Royal Troon.

Hideki MatsuyamaHideki Matsuyama – Had a disappointing US Open by missing the cut but he still plays solid golf and as a fantasy golf player he delivers solid finishes more often than not. Hopefully his salary cap price will drop a bit making him an even better value pick for your fantasy golf team.
