2016 US Open Fantasy Golf Picks

TPC Sawgrass Island HoleOakmont Country Club plays host to the 2016 US Open golf major and is historically known as one of the toughest tests of golf. Played with little to no trees and no water hazards it does still have some of the most punishing rough and toughest bunkers that will force players to hit it straight…or suffer a big number.

The list of Fantasy Golf Picks for the 2016 US Open doesn’t have guys like Jason Day, Rory McIlroy or Jordan Spieth – You can read about them in our Who Will Win the 2016 US Open page. The PGA Tour golfers listed here are guys that are solid picks for a fantasy golf lineup at a site like FantasyAces.com and who are middle to upper tier in salary cap cost but we think are great options for building a lineup with. Ideally you want to have a couple of solid fantasy picks with one or two top guys and one or two Sleeper Picks for the 2016 US Open.

Fantasy Golf Contest

**Fantasy Golf Strategy Tip for 2016 US OPEN** – Look for players that have good stats with finding fairways and are good putters. If golfers are in the rough all day they won’t have pretty numbers. When they do get to the green, they will face slick US Open style greens and the good putters will have the advantage.

We will again put in a bunch of entries in This Week's Biggest Fantasy Golf Contest. We cashed in for the Masters since one of our Sleeper Picks Danny Willett won it all and helped pad our fantasy golf bank account. If you also want an extra edge this week, why not try out Golfbanker.com. The will have their expert picks for the US Open and although they are a paid service, they do have a money back guarantee that allows you to try them out to see if you can win even more than you do now.

Fantasy Golf Picks for the 2016 US Open

Best Fantasy Golf SitesHenrik Stenson Henrik Stenson – Watch how Stenson is playing leading up to the US Open as he had a bit of a blip after the Masters with 2 missed cuts at the PLAYERS and Wells Fargo. He is in the top 50 of Driving accuracy and is ranked 6th in the world golf rankings. If Stenson can hit it straight all week he will be a solid fantasy golf pick.

Bill Haas Bill Haas – We used to always have Bill Haas in our Sleeper Picks and he still can be considered in that category as his salary cap price is usually below average. Haas is a guy that makes cuts and plays well in majors. He won’t win the US Open but he should make the cut and he is fairly accurate off the tee with the driver which will help him at Oakmont.

Louis Oosthuizen Louis Oosthuizen – I was close to putting him on the list of Who will win the 2016 U.S. Open but settled on putting him on this list instead. Oosthuizen finished tied for 2nd in last year’s tough Chambers Bay US Open and is already a major winner on the PGA Tour. He is playing solid golf again this year and he is a great value pick for your fantasy lineup.

Zach Johnson Zach Johnson – Johnson is accurate off the tee and that may be his true value at Oakmont. He has the poise to win the US Open and his putting is pretty good which will help him this year too. He isn’t flashy but he is dependable and if he is a name left available for your salary cap slot and there aren’t another great names…you could do much worse than Zach Johnson.

Matt Kuchar Matt Kuchar – A forgotten man in fantasy golf because his numbers have tailed off a bit in recent years but he still is as solid of a golfer as they come. He plays well at US Open’s having not missed a cut since 2009, he has solid stats off the tee and putting and he generally is just a guy that makes cuts and scores you fantasy points all weekend. He won’t win – but you may if you have him on your team.
