2016 PGA Championship Fantasy Golf Picks

2016 PGA Championship LogoThe 4th major of the PGA Tour season – The 2016 PGA Championship is here and although it is a bit early because of the 2016 Rio Olympics it is still a major and will have all the big name golfers in the field.

Only 2 weeks removed from the Open Championship the PGA Championship will have everyone in top form given that some took a week off to prep and a few played in the RBC Canadian Open to fulfill sponsorship obligations or to collect some much needed FedEx Cup Points.

Top Fantasy Golf Contest

Since we did so well in our Fantasy Picks for the Open Championship we figured we’d stick our chest out one last time and offer up our Fantasy Golf Picks for the 2016 PGA Championship. Our list doesn’t have the top PGA Tour players like Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy or Jordan Spieth but focusses on middle to upper tier golfers that you will want to look at for your Fantasy Golf Millionaire lineups.

These are guys that will be in the $8,000 - $9,000 salary cap range and would pair up nicely with some PGA Championship Sleeper Picks that will be a low cost option to round out your lineup.

Fantasy Golf Picks for PGA Championship

Rickie FowlerRickie Fowler – This whole 2016 PGA Tour season I haven’t had to talk about Fowler at all…because he just wasn’t doing much worth talking about. I am going a bit on a limb and taking him when he is a bit undervalued in fantasy golf salary cap pricing and just may be on the cusp of breaking out with a solid finish. Finished in 46th at The Open but has played well in the majors in previous years so let’s see if it all comes together at Baltusrol.

Best Fantasy Golf SitesMatt KucharMatt Kuchar – Matt Kuchar makes cuts and for a fantasy golf lineup – especially one that will Win You $1 Million you want all of your guys to make the cut. Kuchar is unspectacular but somehow finds a way to be on the leaderboard and score you valuable points for your lineup. He will be in the $8,000’s range somewhere and a good value pick for the week.

Patrick Reed Patrick Reed – After the first day it looked like Reed was going to be a contender at Royal Troon. The rest of the week didn't go as well but he still managed to finish in 12th which is what you want out of a fantasy pick. Although I'm not a fan of Reed's he does seem to play better in bigger tournaments so the PGA Championship may be a good time to look at him for your fantasy golf lineups.

Sergio GarciaSergio Garcia – We picked Sergio Garcia to win the Open and although that didn’t work out quite that well, he still finished tied for 5th which he also did during the US Open. Garcia is playing great golf and plays well in the majors. He probably won’t win but as a fantasy golf pick he is a sure thing this week.

Phil Mickelson Phil Mickelson – So we had Phil on our Fantasy Picks for the Open Championship and that worked well for us so why not double down and put him in again. Phil is playing really good golf and always gets himself motivated for a major. Coincidentally the one PGA Championship that Phil Mickelson has won – was at Baltusrol in 2005.

Jim FurykJim Furyk – Since his return from injury Furyk has been solid but unspectacular. He did finish in 2nd at the US Open but mostly had finishes ranging from 20th – 50th place. He won’t win the PGA Championship but as a fantasy pick you can expect him to make the cut and possibly have a great finish as he has the experience to pull out a win at a major when least expected. As a side note, Furyk played at Baltusrol in 2005 and finished in 34th place.
