Who Will Win The 2014 Masters Golf Tournament?

Who will win the 2014 Masters?

Everyone scours the internet looking for expert golf picks for the Masters, or check out other people’s opinions to see who they should use for either their daily fantasy golf lineup, or who to pick for their Masters fantasy golf pool or league.

In any event, we have narrowed down the field for the Masters based on a few different criteria:

  • Past History at the Masters
  • How They Are Playing in 2014
  • Eliminate the Old-Timers and Amateurs
  • And Other Masters Fantasy Golf Pool Strategies

Here is a list of players that have the best chance to win the 2014 Masters…and who we think will win the 2014 Masters.

Bubba WatsonBubba Watson – Bubba has six top 10s (including 1 win) out of 9 PGA Tournaments. The only blemish is his 83 and WD at the Arnold Palmer Invitational a few weeks back. Bubba is a past Masters Champion and should be a strong contender at Augusta.

Rory McIlroyRory McIlroy – Everyone is waiting for Rory to step into Tiger’s shoes, and with Woods being out, the focus is on him big time. He should have won the Masters in 2011, and it still sticks in his craw that he coughed up a win. He has had a good return to form this year and played OK last week as a final prep for Augusta. We originally had Rory to win the 2014 Masters, but changed him for our eventual pick below – If Rory wins…won’t we feel stupid!

Jimmy WalkeerJimmy Walker – I HATE picking 1st timers at the Masters as they NEVER work out. But how do you not include a guy on this list that already has 3 wins and leads in the FedEx Cup standings? Walker has cooled after his hot start, and was up and down at the Shell Houston Open last week but again, how do you count him out?

Jason DufnerJason Dufner – Dufner is one of those guys that will plod along and out of the blue be at the top of the leaderboard. He is 7 for 7 in 2014 in cuts made, with three top 10 finishes. He is 3 for 3 at the Masters for cuts with no finish worse than 30th. Dufner is a patient golfer, and with some course knowledge and already having won a major, Dufner has a great shot at winning the 2014 Masters.

Keegan BradleyKeegan Bradley – One minute, he looks unstoppable, and the next looks lost. He has made both his cuts at Augusta and has had an up and down year so far. However, he is a very good golfer and has already won a major, so he has the game to beat out the other top PGA Tour golfers.

And...the winner of the 2014 Masters is…

Matt KucharMatt Kuchar – If Walker was the hottest golfer on Tour before, he has been replaced by Matt Kuchar. Having just missed out on winning the Shell Houston Open, he has racked up six top 10s otherwise. Kuchar has finished in 8th and 3rd respectively his last two trips to Augusta. The spotlight will be on other top players, but given how he has played, it is Matt Kuchar’s time to step up and win the 2014 Masters.

*** At the time of us writing this we were unaware of the injury status to Jason Day and Dustin Johnson. If healthy, they both would be on this list without a question and we may have even considered them as our TOP PICK to win the 2014 Masters. Keep an eye on injury updates and decide accordingly.
