For fans of daily fantasy golf, having sites like our affiliate partner DraftKings open up DFS games to include European Tour was a big boost to the bankroll.
Some of the smaller PGA Tournaments would go up against big European Tour events and you would be faced with picking guys from a field of golfers that were mostly rookies or past big names on tour that are collecting a paycheck.
If you like playing DFS golf with the biggest names in golf to make a lineup with then there are certain weeks that you should look at focussing your fantasy golf skills on the European Tour games instead of the PGA Tour.
Below we have a rundown of some of the most popular tournaments on the European Tour and why you should look at setting a DFS lineup or two there if you don’t like what you can get through just the PGA Tour games

Top European Tour Events for Fantasy Golf
The Rolex series are the 8 BIGGEST events on the European Tour series and get the most attention from golfers from all over the world. Many of the tournaments have sponsorship names that change quite frequently so we’ve just named them by their original designation. Here are the 8 events:
PGA Championship
Not to be confused with the PGA Championship on the PGA Tour, it was originally called the British PGA Championship. Sponsorship names occasionally change but the “PGA Championship” part of the name remains. It is a European Tour "Premier Event" for the purposes of the Official World Golf Rankings, with the winner getting a minimum of 64 points.
Open De France
It has been part of the European Tour's schedule since the tour's inception in 1972 and it is the oldest national open in Continental Europe.
Irish open
The Irish Open began in 1927 and features some of the largest galleries on the European Tour as it is the only European Tour event held in Ireland.
Scottish Open
Played the week before the Open Championship, the Scottish Open attracts a strong field of golfers from all around the world who travel early to prep for the British Open and to get the time-change difference out of their system. The PGA Tour has a small event on at the same time so DFS players should look at the Scottish Open if you want a strong field of golfers to pick from.

Italian Open
The Italian Open began in 1925 and was also part of the European Tour when it began in 1972.
Turkish Airlines Open
A newer tournament having started in 2013 it is played in Turkey (obviously) and is played as a final run up to the World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Nedbank Golf Challenge
Was originally known as the Million Dollar Challenge because for a number of years it was a winner take all tournament for a prize of $1 Million. It is now the last tournament until the World Tour Championship in Dubai.
World Tour Championship in Dubai
The Race to Dubai ends with the World Tour Championship. It is the biggest prize money awarded on the European Tour and is the official end to the European Tour season.

Other Top European Golf Events
Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
Aside for the above mentioned Rolex Series, the Dunhill Links Championship is one of the richest golf tournaments on the European Tour. It is played on three links courses; The Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie Golf Links and Kingsbarns Golf Links with the final round again played at St. Andrews. It is a popular stop for golfers and gets a solid field for fantasy DFS players.
Omega Dubai Desert Classic
Was the first European Tour event to be played in the Middle East and it attracts some of the biggest stars in the golfing world.
WGC Tournaments
There are four World Golf Championships and they do merge the European Tour with the PGA Tour so those four weeks if you want to play the top fantasy players in golf you will only have one tournament to play.
The Four Majors
The Masters, The US Open, The Open Championship and the PGA Championship are also on the European Tour schedule and will mean that fantasy golf players will only have one event to play in those 4 weeks.
